They are part of our industrial, and social history, reproduced for the first time since the end of the1900’s, from the original drawings, first published circa 1880.
My Great, Grandfather, Walter Busbridge, born on 15/3/1840, produced the drawings to teach the art of Technical drawing, Walter, was a successful Science Teacher of the time, and the instigator in starting the famous Metropolitan Drawing Classes, of London.
Many prominent engineers from the Industrial Revolution frequently attended his classes during the 1870’s, to early 1900’s.
Many of his students achieved 1st and 2nd in the annual Queens Awards.
These presentations were held at the Guildhall, in London, and were regularly presided over by various members of Royalty, Clergy, and Gentry.
Walter, started his career in 1854 at the age of fourteen years old as, a Carpenter’s Apprentice, within the Carriage Department, of The Royal Arsenal in Woolwich, he further progressed into the Drawing Department of the same as a Mechanical Draftsman.
On 25/4/1863,Walter married my great grandmother, Eliza Guyer, born 3/4/1844, Eliza, had conceived 20 times, and they had 13 surviving children, the youngest being my grandfather Clarence.
After Walter’s early retirement from the Royal Arsenal, due to ill health, he concentrated fully on his Science teaching career, expanding the Metropolitan Drawing classes around London.
Tragically, on 24 July 1907, at the age of 63, Eliza committed suicide, by throwing herself in the river Wey, nr Busbridge, in Godalming, Surrey.
Walter Busbridge died on 7/1/1915.

Included with each print is a copy of (3 pages) an account of Walter Busbridge, produced by the Science, and Art, Journal, and dated, 1888.
